Los Angeles: an interesting side trip from San Francisco

los-angeles-hollywoodSan Francisco has a lot to offer on its own but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider visiting Los Angeles as a side trip. Each city has a rhythm of its own and there are tons of interesting things to do.

Consider visiting Los Angeles in March. The weather can be either nice or still rainy and slightly cold. But overall, the average daytime temperature is 69F so you can get away with some light jackets over long sleeve blouses. Plus the flowers are in bloom and the landscape is absolutely magnificent. And it’s the time when cheap flights to Los Angeles are very easy to find. A one way flight from San Francisco to Los Angeles starts at $70 in early March. That’s at least one of the reasons why you should consider this side trip.

Likewise, cheap hotels in Los Angeles are much easier to find during spring. A double room in early March starts at $39. That’s cheap and a good reason to stay at least for the weekend. And the best part is that even hotels close to Downtown are affordable.

March 17 marks St. Patrick Day and Los Angeles is always home to colorful parades and celebrations. Should you plan your trip around this event, make sure to pack something green. Or take the opportunity to do some shopping in Los Angeles.

Since March is an off-season month you can consider visiting the theme parks in Anaheim. They are not crowded at this time of the year so you can enjoy them at a more relaxed pace.

And because you’ll be saving both on accommodation and flights, you can use the spare money to pay for some interesting tours. The Hollywood Trolley Tour costs just $20 and you can see the best of the area without doing any walking. You can also combine a sightseeing tour with shopping and that’s bound to put a big smile on your face. Or you can plan a day trip to San Diego Zoo (from $82, transport included). In short, there are a lot of things you can do and won’t need to spend too much money either.
